Supporting the needs of our visitors is at the heart of all we do, and each year we deliver specific equipment and awareness training to our Volunteers enabling them to provide the best all-round experience during a visit to the Trust.
Today we started the first of our Hoist Training sessions. We have five hoists in total, each used to help make accessing our activities easier. This morning the group have spent time learning how to operate the hoists, and have practised using them to hoist each other from a wheelchair into a canoe, and from a wheelchair into a boat. Earlier this week we delivered Canoe Training in our rafted canoes which covered learning how to launch/recover, how to seat and equip visitors, and which paddle stroke to use to steer the canoe where you want it to go!
