Accessible Activities
Accessible Canoeing
Canoeing at the Nancy Oldfield Trust offers a serene and inclusive way to explore the tranquil waters of the Norfolk Broads. Using specially rafted Canadian canoes designed for stability and accessibility, the Trust ensures that people of all abilities—including those with mobility challenges—can enjoy the experience safely and comfortably. Each canoe accommodates up to six people and is equipped with a hoist for easy boarding, supported seating, and lifejackets. As you paddle or simply relax with a volunteer guide, you’ll glide through peaceful dykes and channels rich with wildlife, from otters and water deer to vibrant birds like siskins and bitterns.
Canoeing, Pedal Launches and Mega Paddleboarding sessions take place from our base at Neatishead, near Barton Broad. Our activities can be booked as a half or full day activity, during the warmer months and are subjected to the current suggested donation.
Accessible Pedal Launches
Pedal launches at the Nancy Oldfield Trust offer a unique and eco-friendly way to explore the Norfolk Broads. These compact boats are powered by a bicycle-style pedal mechanism, seating two people face-to-face as they propel themselves gently across the water. The adjustable seats cater to different leg lengths, making them comfortable and accessible for a wide range of users. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful ride or a bit of light exercise, you control the pace and distance. Safety is a priority—buoyancy aids are provided, and a safety boat is always nearby. It’s a charming, low-impact way to enjoy the scenery and serenity of the Broads. We have three Pedal Launches.
Accessible Paddleboarding
Mega paddleboarding at the Nancy Oldfield Trust is a fun and inclusive way to enjoy the water, especially for groups or those seeking a more stable paddleboarding experience. The board is large enough to accommodate multiple people at once and can accommodate up to 7 visitors, making it ideal for families, friends, or individuals who prefer extra support. You can choose to sit or stand, depending on your comfort level, and supported seating is available for those who need it. Like all activities at the Trust, it’s designed to be accessible, safe, and guided by experienced staff—perfect for exploring the calm waters of the Norfolk Broads with confidence and joy.
